DENVER -- NAREE has assembled a prestigious lineup of panelists for its 46th Annual Real Estate Journalism conference, which will include major addresses by NAREIT Chairman Don Wood and Margaret Kelly, chief executive officer of Re/Max.
The National Association of Real Estate Editors -- NAREE -- will begin its conference Wednesday, June 20 at 10 a.m. at the Brown Palace Hotel & Spa in downtown Denver.
The NAREE conference offers outstanding professional development sessions, tours of cutting-edge project in Colorado and brings in news-making leaders from the real estate industry.
On Wednesday morning, NAREIT’s Don Wood will talk on the redevelopment of outdated malls into mixed-use projects with residential components and other uses. Wood is president of Federal Realty Trust, a national shopping center development firm. He serves as chairman of NAREIT, the National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts, an organization of publicly-traded realty firms.
On Friday, speakers will include Re/Max chief executive Margaret Kelly, a popular company spokesperson featured in the international realty firm’s television commercials. She is also on the board of the Kansas City Federal Reserve Bank, Denver Branch.
Other speakers and panelists will include David Crowe, chief economist, National Association of Home Builders; Terry Considine, chief executive of AIMCO; Adam Fruitbine, Managing Director, Alliance Residential; Lawrence Yun, chief economist of the National Association of Realtors; Mark Obrinsky, chief economist of National Multi Housing Council; Robert Dorsey, FNC.; Marty Collins, Gatehouse Capital; Rachel McCleery, Urban Land Institute; Walter Isenberg, chief executive of Sage Hospitality; Michael Kelley, president, Caldera Asset Management and many others.
On Saturday, June 23, NAREE conferees will have the option to travel to the mountains in Vail for a behind-the-scene tour organized in conjunction with Vail Resorts Inc., one of the world’s largest vacation-real-estate developers.
Conferees opting for the Vail tour should book their return flights leaving Denver Sunday, June 24, to allow time for the Saturday Vail tour. Round trip transportation for the Vail tour on Saturday will be complimentary.
The optional Saturday tour to Vail will offer conferees an inside look at housing and green real estate development practices in a pristine mountain resort location. The tour will include a visit to the luxurious Ritz-Carlton Residences and the town of Vail.
The four-day NAREE conference, entitled, "Covering Real Estate With Altitude" is NAREE's "Ultimate News Conference" and is designed to draw writers, editors, authors and the nation’s leading real estate analysts and experts to focus on new trends in residential, resort, commercial and financial real estate.

The NAREE conference will be headquartered in downtown Denver at the historic Brown Palace Hotel, the grand dame of Denver hostelry. Highlights of the conference will include the announcement of the winners of NAREE’s 62nd Annual Real Estate Journalism Competition and the unveiling of the results of NAREE’s Bruss Real Estate Book Awards.
NAREE's 16th Annual Meet the Press, a popular event that matches editors and journalists with freelancers and publicists in a quick series of three-minute meetings, will be held Friday afternoon.
The conference sessions will generate a significant amount of news interest as economists, architects, urban planners, brokers, builders and developers discuss contemporary issues impacting development, sales and real estate finance.
