NAREE Elects 2007 Board

The National Association of Real Estate Editors has elected Lois Weiss, of the New York Post, as its president for the 06-07 year.  Ken Harney of the Washington Post Writers Group is the new Board Vice President. 05-06 president Al Heavens, of the Philadelphia Inquirer is now Chairman of NAREE's Board of Directors.

In her acceptance speech, Weiss told a group of NAREE reporters that she had just returned from Dubai on assignment. She said that building projects completed in a year's time there were in sharp contrast to the process to rebuild New Orleans in the same time frame.  She urged reporters to keep the Katrina story alive, and vowed she would do all she could to inform fellow reporters that there is still much to write about the New Orleans recovery. 

NAREE reporters toured some of the devastated areas in the 9th Ward and  parts of  St. Bernard Parish prior to the  NAREE election dinner meeting at the Herbsaint restaurant in New Orleans. The full list of NAREE officers and directors for 06-07:
