NAREE's 64th Annual Journalism Conference in Uptown Houston Next June

NAREE to Hold 2014 Journalism Conference in Uptown Houston Next June

The Westin Oaks Houston in The Galleria will be NAREE's headquarters hotel when the group heads to Houston June 11-14 next year for its annual conference.

The Board of Directors voted to hold NAREE's 48th Annual Spring Conference in Houston when it met last June during NAREE Atlanta conference. Ralph Bivins, editor of RealtyNewsReport.com and a NAREE past president, is chairing the Houston meeting which will include NAREE University professional development sessions, panels and tours of cutting edge development.

“The Westin Oaks headquarters hotel is part of The Galleria, a massive mixed-use project developed by Gerald Hines,” Bivins said. “NAREE Conference attendees can easily step into the mall, which has 300 stores and restaurants and an ice skating rink. The Galleria, a prototype of mixed-use development, is one of the finest venues ever for a NAREE conference.”

NAREE chooses a different conference city each year from New York to San Diego. Headliners such as Donald Trump, Gerald Hines, Rudolph Giuliani and President Bill Clinton have addressed the group and taken questions at prior conferences. NAREE has crossed the border to Mexico, attended Senate and White House news briefings, seen the devastation at Ground Zero in New York and visited the international home furnishings market in High Point, N.C. among myriad other venues.

"The goal of this and every NAREE conference is to bring sources from all over the nation under one roof to provide breaking news stories and background information for member journalists who cover residential and commercial real estate and mortgage finance, as well as luxury and green building," said NAREE Executive Director Mary Doyle-Kimball.

Conference organizers also put on professional development seminars on topics ranging from better blogging to investigative reporting for real estate journalists. Winners of the Annual Real Estate Journalism Competition will also be announced at NAREE14.

The conference will begin Wednesday morning, June 11, 2014 and end Saturday morning, June 14, 2014. More details will be available later this year. The Westin Oaks hotel is located at 5011 Westheimer Road, Houston, TX 77056.
