Residential, Commercial and Financial Real Estate Reporters Invited for Conference June 15-18
SAN ANTONIO – The National Association of Real Estate Editors (NAREE) 45th Annual Conference in San Antonio, Texas will conclude with strong programming on Saturday morning June 18, highlighted by a controversial session on selling homes "FISBO" (for-sale-by-owner).
Other great Saturday morning programming will include a session: "Living South of the Border: A Casualty of the Drug Wars?" featuring Christopher Hill, founder of the Mexico Real Estate Coalition.
HGTV's Cynthia Lee will kick off the Sat., June 18 morning sessions with a video lab on how take on camera reporting up a notch. Lee, a former anchor for Fox News, is also a real estate agent and owner of a video production company.
Facing off in NAREE's "For Sale By Owner" panel are Eddie Tyner of ForSaleByOwner.com, Dwight Hale, head of the Texas Association of Realtors and Michael Crowley, president of National Association of Exclusive Buyer Agents.
NAREE's conference will inform attendees about the latest trends in residential and commercial real estate, as well as help journalists sharpen their skills with a lineup of "NAREE University" sessions.
San Antonio Mayor Julian Castro, 36, named in a New York Times profile as having "a very good chance of becoming the first Hispanic president of the United States" will address the group and take questions on Wednesday. "Redefining Urban Missions," NAREE's 2011 spring conference will have an exclusive with Urban Land Institute CEO Patrick Phillipson "Real Estate’s Next Great Frontier" also on opening day. Sessions on "The Growing Latino Market," "The Multi Family Boom," "Property Rights and Wrongs" and "Green Building Trends" will explore factors affecting the urban grid and suburban rings.
Michael Gerrity, The World Property Channel; Candace Evans, SecondShelters.com ; Steve Cook, RealEstateEconomyWatch.com ; and Jay Rickey, CityBizList.com will disucss the fine points of launching a web site as part of a series of "NAREE University" sessions. A two-part computer assisted reporting class taught by Mary Shanklin of the Orlando Sentinel and workshop on becoming more productive in social media efficiency by John Oldham of Inman News are also part of the "NAREE University" professional development series.
NAREE's conference will also provide mid-year updates on the economy, home prices, mortgages rates and foreclosure trends with expert speakers from all real estate sectors -- financial, commercial, and residential throughout the conference.
NAREE’s "Redefining Urban Missions" will be headquartered at the historic Menger Hotel, which is directly across the street from the Alamo and one block from San Antonio's famous River Walk.
